2016 Legislation of Interest

Equity in All Places strives to support, disseminate, and amplify policies that increase schools’ holding power and intervene in the school to prison pipeline.  Within the scope of this work, we have compiled a list of Legislation of Interest introduced in the 2016 session that is important to our work. The legislation is divided into four subject areas: 1) First Priority 2) Education Legislation with 2nd Priority Legislation Highlighted, 3) Juvenile Justice  and 4) Equity-Related.

This information is intended to provide a critical piece of strategy for community organizations, parents, teachers, students, and advocates who want to stay informed on laws that may pass in the 2016 Legislative Session, which will conclude on June 6, 2016.

We hope that the list proves informative to you. We will also provide updates in our weekly news briefs regarding upcoming committee hearings on the Education priority legislation, Juvenile Justice legislation, and Equity-related legislation.
